Lake Dunmore Fern Lake Association
Overview: Lake Dunmore Fern Lake Association (LDFLA) is a group dedicated to protecting and enhancing the natural vitality of Lake Dunmore and Fern Lake while preserving the recreational and lifestyles interests of the lakes community.
The Project: The organization is deeply passionate about appreciating and protecting nature and animals, making it a priority to incorporate both elements into the logo. While relaxation and recreation were key themes, it was important to avoid a purely recreational brand feel. Instead, a nature-inspired color palette with a subtle pop was chosen to strike the right balance. The brand needed to be friendly, playful, and fun, yet still professional.
Having grown up spending summers at my family’s camp on one of the lakes, I had a personal connection to this project. It felt natural to translate those cherished memories into the logo and brand identity. Loons, an iconic part of the community, deserved a place of honor in the design, while other elements reflect the pristine waters, lush forests, and peaceful pastimes that define the area. The typefaces take inspiration from classic camp signage, evoking a warm, welcoming sense of nostalgia.
